Ingredients

For the Brownies

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Adds richness and moisture; substituting with margarine yields a different flavor.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Provides essential sweetness and texture; this is key for achieving that awesome brownie structure.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Enhances moisture and gives a deep flavor; you can use all granulated sugar for a drier finish if preferred.
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract Adds depth to flavor; there’s no substitute here, as it truly enhances the overall taste.
  • 2 large Eggs Binds ingredients for structure and moisture; using room temperature eggs helps them incorporate better.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour The main structure for the brownies; feel free to use gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Brings that rich chocolate flavor; Dutch-processed cocoa works beautifully for a more intense taste.
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavor; very important for achieving harmony in the dessert.

For the Ganache

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Used to create the silky ganache; you can opt for coconut cream as a dairy-free alternative.
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips The star ingredient for the ganache, adding rich chocolate goodness; dark chocolate chips can intensify the flavor.

For the Topping

  • 1 cup Candy-Coated Chocolate Chips or Rainbow Sprinkles Adds color and crunch; choose various colors or types to personalize your cosmic brownies!

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter in a large mixing bowl over low heat or in the microwave. Whisk in granulated and brown sugar until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  • Incorporate vanilla extract and large eggs, whisking until everything is well combined and shiny.
  • Sift in cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt; gently fold the dry ingredients using a spatula until fully incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 20–22 minutes; check for doneness by inserting a toothpick.
  • Prepare the ganache by heating the heavy cream until it's just simmering. Pour it over the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl.
  • Spread the ganache evenly over your cooled brownies and sprinkle with candy-coated chocolate chips or rainbow sprinkles.
  • Chill until set, about 30 minutes in the fridge. Once firm, slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is an optional indulgent treat.
