Ingredients

Instructions

How to Make

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Brown the pork breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the browned sausage and stir until well-coated.
  • Whisk in the whole milk gradually until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes; season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder.
  • Cut the refrigerated biscuit dough into quarters and spread half in the greased baking dish.
  • Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuit base to coat evenly.
  • Top with the remaining biscuit pieces in an even layer.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; add cheese during the last 5 minutes if desired.
  • Rest the casserole for 5 minutes before slicing to allow flavors to meld.
