Gravy

  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour Mix with sausage fat before adding milk
  • 2 cups Whole Milk Can substitute with dairy-free milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder Optional

  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Optional, sprinkle on top for last few minutes

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  • In a large skillet, brown the pork breakfast sausage over medium heat without draining the fat.
  • Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the browned sausage, stirring well. Gradually whisk in the whole milk and simmer until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
  • Cut the refrigerated biscuit dough into quarters. Layer half of the biscuit pieces in the greased baking dish and pour the sausage gravy over them. Place the remaining biscuit pieces on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Add cheddar cheese for the last 5 minutes if using.
  • Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Optional: Add a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top before serving for a touch of color.
