  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for flavor

Main Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Stir in olive oil and yogurt, followed by the salt. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour until a sticky dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough, divide into 6-8 pieces, shape them into balls, and flatten into ovals about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until bubbly and golden.
  • Brush each naan with melted butter or ghee immediately after cooking and serve warm.

Notes

Optional: Sprinkle minced garlic on top before brushing with butter.
