Preparation Steps

  • Peel, core, and slice your apples into 1/2-inch wedges. Toss with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon, and let sit for about 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Grease the Dutch oven, spread the apple mixture evenly, then top with the oat mixture.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes before serving warm.
