Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Substitute with gluten-free flour for gluten-free rolls
  • 2 tsp Instant yeast Active dry yeast can be used
  • 1 cup Warm milk 110°F; plant-based milk for dairy-free
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, melted Plant-based butter for vegan
  • 2 large Eggs Flax eggs for vegan

For the Filling

  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp Chai spice blend Store-bought blends are acceptable

For the Glaze

  • 4 oz Cream cheese Use vegan cream cheese for dairy-free
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp Heavy cream Optional for glaze consistency

Directions

  • Warm the milk to about 110°F, then mix it with granulated sugar and instant yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Whisk in melted butter and eggs until combined, creating a rich base for the dough.
  • In a stand mixer, combine the warm mixture with all-purpose flour. Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Mix brown sugar and chai spice blend in a small bowl for the filling.
  • Roll out the dough into a 16×12 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter and sprinkle the sugar-spice mixture.
  • Roll tightly from the long edge into a log and slice into 9–12 rolls.
  • Place sliced rolls in a greased dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 22–27 minutes until golden brown.
  • Beat cream cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and additional spices. Add heavy cream if needed.
  • Spread the glaze over warm rolls right after baking.

Optional: Sprinkle with chopped pecans for added crunch and flavor.
